Does This Happen To You?

Maybe I’m the only one but every time I get a new charger for my iPhone, it’s JUST long enough to reach from the socket to my armchair or from the socket to where I want to place the phone while it’s charging.

Yes, I am one of those folks that uses my iPhone while it’s charging.  I guess that may be ill advised by some but it’s what I do.  And I hate when the cord just barely reaches so I can do that.

So when I was offered this LAX six foot (yep! six foot) lightning cord at a discount, I was sooo excited.

If you think you would be interested – here’s the link on Amazon:

It’s great!  Having six feet is like the olden days of yore when you got that really long phone cord for our Princess phone (if you have to ask what that is… are not vintage enough!).  You could walk around the room – it was great.  So now I can move around and use my phone and talk or read FB or write reviews, etc.

The cord, itself, seems very sturdy and I like the design.  It does come in different colors if you wanted something other than black and white.

Overall I am very pleased with the cord and this brand.  I will have to see what other products they have on Amazon.

In other words…..I’m all ‘charged up’ about it !  hahahahaha

Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid

As you know, I belong to several groups that send out free products to test and review. One of those is BzzAgent. About a month ago, they sent me a full size of the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid. It’s an exfoliate but not the type with the little beads or crushed this or that. No, this one is just like a clear liquid. But it works just like other exfoliates.

They say It’s the one product Paula* herself can’t live without, and it’s gaining a cult following.

Because of the pH level that this BHA product is formulated at (and apparently most other BHA products are not), Paula’s Choice 2% BHA is able to better penetrate pores, improve skin texture – all that good stuff!

For those of us who are ‘nearly elderly’ our youth is always with us if we had bad skin as a kid (those enlarged pores, scarring, etc) just seem to go hand in hand with lines and bad textured skin.

But this product has helped me diminish the look of those large pores and refined my skin over the last month. Some folks might feel a little tingle but it doesn’t leave your skin red or irritated. You don’t rinse it off. Just use it as part of your daily skin routine.

Now, if you go looking for this you will see it doesn’t come cheap! But not to worry – I have a special code for you to use so you, my nearly elderly friend, can save some money!! Just go to

Enter PRBHA16 when prompted and save 20%!

I’m late with this review – I fought a stomach flu and the stomach flu won!  But I’m back on my feet, so to speak!

As a nearly elderly person, I am always looking for skincare items that will help me achieve the fountain of youth.  Ok, that hasn’t happened.  But I do look for items that will help my skin feel good and look as good as it can.   Earlier this year I tried a product, an eye serum, from a line called Valentia.  Valentia uses really great botanicals and essential oils and I was really impressed.  So, a month ago they asked if I would like to try their face serum for free in exchange for my honest review.  Who can say ‘no’ to free????  So, I’ve been using this product for the past month.

I love the way Valentia’s products feel – very silky and this product has a light, citrusy scent.  I’m sure that’s the essential oil.  While I haven’t seen the dramatic results I did with their eye serum, this is a wonderful little serum and leaves my face soft and just a little lifted (you won’t look like you were attacked by Botox or anything).

I appreciate more natural ingredients on my skin and I really think Valentia has a lovely line of skincare items that feel good, are better for you than a lot of skincare out there and actually deliver improvement to the look and texture of your skin.

If you are interested in purchasing Valentia, you can find their items on Amazon and particularly you can find their Revitalizing, Lift Serum here:

A Nice Little Serum

I recently received the Best Vitamin C Serum For Face With 20% Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid For Women for free for an honest, unbiased review.

As I’ve become nearly elderly, I’ve tried to add products to my skin routine.  One if those items is a serum of some sort.  Serums are usually vitamin rich and/or has other ingredients to help your skin. Serums are used after cleansing but before moisturizers.

I recently started to use serums in my facial routine (last six months or so) because I wanted something more than just a cleanser and moisturizer. I noticed that my skins was looking dull and I was just feeling old! So, I was excited to try this product, especially because it contains Vitamin C, which I have found very helpful for my skin.

Ok, I’m sensitive to the smell of skin products because, quite frankly, it’s on my face!  So what I’m not nuts about with this serum and this is just probably me, the serum smells like old coffee. So that’s a little weird.

It is a caramel color but quite light in texture coming out of the pump. I do like that there is a pump instead of a dropper or nothing at all. It’s so much easier to use and more convenient and I don’t feel like I’ll get too little or too much.

I do almost immediately feel a tightening of my skin when I apply the serum. But my skin is not dry – it feels great. But it does has that astringent feeling (without any type of burn) that my skin feels firmer and tighter. I’ve used the serum for about a month and I do think it is doing a good job of helping my skin retain moisture and diminishing fine lines, etc. I am going to continue to use it and hope it continues to help.

I would really love this except that the coffee smell is just a little off-putting for me. As I said, that just may be how my nose is and you may not feel that way at all. But the smell of something I put on my face is important to me.

Can a Pill Help Me Lose Weight?

I don’t tend to put a lot of weight (no pun intended!) in weight loss claims from a bottle of pills. When I was a kid, my mom took me to the doctor for something for my chubbiness. It was the 60’s. He gave me amphetamines. I was cleaning the medicine cabinet with a toothbrush at 10:00pm.

So I was a little hesitant when I was offered the opportunity to try NEW Garcinia/Cleanse ADVANCED Fast Weight Loss Kit. I know that the Garcinia Cambogia has been talked about by a certain celebrity doctor. But since I was offered the items for free – I thought what the heck.

After reading some of the Amazon online reviews, I must admit that I have not taken the Detox pills daily only because I work and I can’t really afford to have it work ‘too well’ if you know what I mean. But I will when I’m on vacation and at home next week.

I have been taking the Garcinia and two things – 1) it seems to work as an appetite suppressant as I told feel hungry throughout the day, which is great for someone like me who is a snacker. and 2) I have lost a couple of pounds – but it’s also been the weeks before Christmas and there has been food everywhere at work and parties and cookie exchanges, etc. and I generally put on a few pounds during this period. So the fact that I have lost anything is pretty amazing to me. Because I have not tried in the least to diet (and I realized it was the worst time to try out a diet aid!).

So, I will continue taking the Garcinia and then the Detox (if I do ok with it I’ll continue with it on the 7 day cycles) and hope to see even more results after the holidays.

And I haven’t had the urge to clean any medicine cabinets!

Wonderful Eye Cream

<I get samples/full size skin/eye cremes all the time through subscription boxes and other online groups. And while most of those are ok products, it’s really rare to see an immediate change or something that happens sooner than later. So, when I was offered the Valentia True Glow Eye Cream free for my review, I was really expecting the same – try it for a couple of weeks and see if I saw any difference.True Glow Eye Cream Box Front and logo

The eye cream is suppose to help with dark circles, fine lines, etc. I have terrible dark circles, especially in the morning. I think it’s because I sleep on my side. I started using the Valentia and was amazed to see almost immediate improvement in both the dark circles and the puffiness I have in the morning. It’s a yellowish/gold color and comes out of the pump with just enough to use at a time. The consistency is fairly thick and I couldn’t really tell any fragrance, etc. It seems to absorb fairly quickly into my skin. And in the morning, I look so much more awake – so nice not having to try so hard to cover the dark circles with concealer, etc. I haven’t seen as much improvement on fine lines but that’s ok. I plan on continuing to use this product and so glad I’ve found something that actually does what it says it will do.

Wowza! That’s a Mouthful

So, my latest hobby is reviewing items and trying new and old familiar items.  One of the companies I use is Crowdtap. Mostly they have polls and surveys but you can also receive items from their sponsors to review. I was asked to try Listerine  Cool Mint Antiseptic mouthwash.    They sent me a large bottle to try.  Not some little sample!

Now, I remember Listerine from my youth. It was the ‘gold’ Listerine and honestly – it was nasty!  It was mediciny and strong and probably what moonshine tastes like.   So, I wasn’t sure about this review opportunity.

The first morning I think I used too much because my mouth was on fire within 10 seconds. The flavor was much better but it’s still 20+% alcohol.  The next day I used about half the amount and it was much better.

If you’re not used to it, you may have work up to the recommended 30 seconds of swishing like I did. But it really does leave your mouth feeling great. It has changed my mind about using Listerine.

If you want to try Crowdtap, just go to  (@crowdtap)  and of course you can find Listerine at (@listerine)
